The commencement of Xiling Yinshe 2017 Spring Auction just encountered the beginning of the hottest days in Hangzhou. The high temperature added the liveliness of the halls where top-graded works of art were waiting for their new owners. 


The three-day sale completed an imposing auction, totally more than 40 hours of continuous bidding at a remarkable outcome, RMB1.304 billion with a sales rate of 87.5%!


Among the lots, the bronze ‘Xi Jia’ Pan of Western Zhou Dynasty ended with a sale price of RMB212.75 million, creating a domestic record for Chinese works of art.


Thousands of eyes witnessed the epic moment for the Chinese art market as the sale attracted considerable publicity.


History is the record of the past. The 133-character inscription on the ‘Xi Jia’ Pan which makes it comparable to Shang Shu (a book of historic records) records unprecedentedly historical facts about King Xuan of Zhou Dynasty and his minister Yin Jifu, ranging from the defense of the border to the development of legal system and the silk road trade. The bronze is also a representation of the epigraphy since the Song Dynasty.
